We contributed to the construction of the specialized NB100 unit in cooperation with the CRIST shipyard

NB100 is a specialized vessel created to lay underwater tunnel elements on the bottom, at a depth of 45 meters. After more than two years of advanced construction work, for the past two months it has been completing a key stage of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe – the Fehmarnbelt submersible tunnel, connecting Denmark with Germany.

The vessel handed over to the shipowner consists of two pontoons connected by a route (bridge). It was equipped with generator sets, a winch and elevator system, a hydraulic system and other specialized components. It was the hydraulic system that was one of the components our company was responsible for as part of this globally unique project.

Thanks to our many years of experience, we had the opportunity to handle the supply of AISI 316L-compliant installation materials and the installation of the hydraulic system. We topped off the work by flushing the system using the HAMER pulsation method and conducting a successful pressure test.

Working on such an advanced project is not only a confirmation of the vast experience of our team, but also of the reliability of our technologies, including HAMER technology, certified by Bureau Veritas (BV).

The handover of the NB100 is further proof of the engineering capabilities of CRIST Shipyard and its partners. This is the second project executed at CRIST Shipyard for the construction of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel. The first, with construction number NB131, also known as MPP, was handed over to the recipient almost an equal year ago. The first unit is to lay gravel on the seabed, onto which the tunnel elements will then be laid. And this NB100 will hold the tunnel elements at sea and sink them.
