With successful trials of two unmanned lawnmowers, carried out as part of the NCDR’s project POiR.01.01.01-00-0523/19, co-financed by European funds under the European Regional Development Fund, we have completed the activities in this project.
In the innovative tandem of flail-wheel and crawler-blade mowers, we applied autonomous tracking with the use of GPS sensors. The main operating principle is that when the main mower is selected and both vehicles in tandem are running, the main mower leaves a virtual trail and the second mower automatically starts followig the path of the main mower thus expanding its mowing area. In case of running upon an obstacle, the lawnmowers are equipped with a safe stop system based on the LIDAR laser system.
During field tests, both flail-wheel and crawler-blade mowers showed great ability to cover terrain, achieving the assumed quality and efficiency.
